Tiramisu

This tiramisu recipe has a combination of coffee, cocoa, and mascarpone flavors. Tiramisu is a dessert that transports you to Italy with only one spoonful.

Tiramisu

Yield: About 6 servings

Prep time: Approx. 10 minutes

Total Time: 25  minutes

List of Ingredients

Topping:

1 cup whipping cream

2 tsp white sugar
½ tbsp vanilla extract

Filling:

1 cup of whipping cream

½ cup of white sugar

1 tbsp vanilla extract

5 egg yolks

2 cups Mascarpone Cheese

Filling: Lady Finger Mix

1 ½ cup of coffee

5 tbsp white sugar

1 tbsp vanilla extract

1 box lady finger cookies or recipe stated 

¼ cup rum

Directions

Topping:

  1. In a medium bowl, whip the cream and stir sugar and the vanilla extract. Keep this mix refrigerated while working on other steps.

Cream Filling:

  1. Whip the cream, sugar, and vanilla together and keep it in the fridge until the rest of the mix is completed.
  2. In medium heat, place a pot with 3 inches of water and bring to a simmer. On top of the pot place a metal bowl above the simmering water.
  3. In the bowl placed in the pot, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar in a separate bowl until the mixture has almost doubled in size. Make sure the mixture is warm so the eggs are safely cooked. 
  4. Add the mascarpone to the mix and whisk vigorously until the mixture is well combined. The mixture should be a little warm. Remove from the heat.
  5. Place the mixture in the fridge before folding in the whipped cream (Step 1).
  6. When the mixture is cooled, add the whipped cream to the mix and mix. Keep in the fridge until ready to assemble.

Lady Fingers:

  1. Take freshly brewed coffee and add the rum and sugar until dissolved.
  2. Allow the mix to cool down. 

Assemble:

  1. Grab a bowl either a glass one or a bowl that will make your tiramisu more presentable. 
  2. Dip ladyfingers in the coffee soaking liquid for a moment. Don’t soak too much because they will become soggie.
  3. Place some of the soaked ladyfingers at the bottom of the dish.
  4. Spread some of the mascarpone cheese mixtures on top and sprinkle some cocoa powder above. 
  5. Repeat this step depending on the height of your dish.
  6. Finally, spread the whipped cream on top and sprinkle with more cocoa powder.
